We made our way through a heavily defended bunker. The undead lay in pieces behind us, and in front of us was the open space of a tank graveyard. The shattered armor and corpses of Nazi war machines pile up. What can go wrong as we head towards the level’s exit? Oh, it’s a zombie tank, but a corpse You read that right. It’s a zombie tank. And no on-screen character treats him like a stranger, and frankly, we and our teammates feel just as comfortable taking down an undead tank that’s pulling zombies out of their rotting guts as it whizzes by. Zombie Army 4 abides by its own rules, and its brand of arcade horror never fails to bring smiles.

Perks are passive abilities that manifest in the heat of battle. Whether it’s the ability to get back into the fray by shooting zombies (each shot refills your health) or dealing extra damage and group healing, each perk can help transform a fight, especially if you’re working as a team.
We’re back in Horde mode and putting everything we’ve unlocked and learned to good use. Piling up on the roof of a half-destroyed farm, we can eliminate zombies from a distance. Heavies are easy to hit from afar, but Creepers, fast Creepers, are harder to defend without a supply MG. We had used our time leading up to the wave to set up traps to hold them back. An electrical firing cable extends out front and blocks the Creepers, giving us time to clear them out. Mines placed at entrances provide protection. Even this preparation cannot hold off the horde for long, and as our traps dwindle, we run in all directions. It’s a bug that is our downfall and it proves that Zombie Army 4 is better when everyone plays as a team. One by one we are eliminated. Cornered by a Heavy-wielding Jigsaw, overrun by Creepers, and dragged into our very own Propeller Trap, there’s only one player left alive the odds aren’t good.
